I’m taking some time off from social media. I haven’t seen much in the way in positive postings which I find uplifting. Religious/spiritual memes strike me as shallow. I don’t envision a white Christmas with a sleigh ride to grandmas. In addition, I find the political landscape fallow.

On the other hand, I found a story in the Seattle Times that gave me pause to reflect. I am a firm believer that if African-Americans are to exceed and excel in a hostile environment we must learn to truly take care of ourselves. I believe the following article speaks to that objective.
